BROOKFIELD HOMES PARTNERS WITH ANAHEIM REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY TO BRING NEW HOMES TO HISTORIC DISTRICT
ANAHEIM, CA — Costa Mesa-based Brookfield Homes Southland continues to pay tribute to Anaheim’s rich 150-year history and remains committed to making a difference in the community by partnering with the City’s Redevelopment Agency to bring 339 new residences to the historic Colony district of Anaheim. Brookfield plans to offer two new-home collections at Colony Park, consisting of 163 unique row townhomes and 176 court townhomes that will display the same style, warmth, and details that are the hallmark of every Brookfield neighborhood. Located on the northeast corner of South and Olive Street, the new home neighborhoods of Legacy and Harmony at Colony Park in the historic Colony district of Anaheim are anticipated to go to sale in summer 2007.
The creation of Colony Park solidifies Brookfield’s five-year relationship with the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency, which has produced some of the city’s most revered new-home communities, including Anacapa, Picadilly, Cantada Lane, and Cantada Square. “Colony Park is part of downtown’s ongoing revitalization effort, and will convert an industrial-use property to residential housing, with a portion of the homes meeting California’s affordable housing requirement,” noted Abel Avalos, a Project Manager for the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency. “Brookfield has gone to great lengths to ensure that the architecture and design of Colony Park reflect the historic nature of the architecture in downtown.”
Legacy and Harmony at Colony Park will showcase both Early Californian and French Normandy architectural styles, enabling the homes to naturally blend into the surrounding neighborhood. Future onsite amenities will include a pool and pavilion with turf area. “It’s been a pleasure working with Brookfield Homes,” added Avalos. “Brookfield really understands the development process. The company not only knows how to work with the redevelopment agency and city departments, but also how to effectively work with neighbors and community stakeholders.”
“Brookfield Homes is proud to continue our work with the Redevelopment Agency to assist in creating a new community that is inspired by the city’s past, improving the stability of surrounding property values, and providing a special sense of place in the treasured historic district of Anaheim,” noted John O’Brien, Vice President of Development for Brookfield Homes. “Colony Park has become a symbol of our unique and extensive relationship with the City of Anaheim and a platform for future redevelopment across Southern California.”
Colony Park will be part of a large-scale revitalization effort in the historic district of downtown Anaheim. The transformation includes new townhomes, apartments, and a mixed-used project located adjacent to City Hall and two blocks from Colony Park, which will include retail space, rental and condominium residential units, and parking.
