BROOKFIELD HOMES SOUTHLAND INC. EXCELS IN ANAHEIM

ANAHEIM, CA - On Monday, September 14, Brookfield Homes Southland Inc. and its President Adrian Foley, will be one of two honorees along with SA Recycling and its President George Adams, at the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce Business Networking Golf Tournament at Anaheim Hills Golf Course.

Recently ranked # 1 in the nation for customer purchase experience by Eliant iReports, Brookfield Homes first began developing homes in Anaheim in 2004. Today, just five short years later they have developed five new-home communities including the innovative Colony Park development that is part of the downtown redevelopment project.

While sales of new homes have recently experienced a slow down, according to John O’Brien, Brookfield’s VP of Urban Sales, volume of sales for Brookfield has remained good. In fact, recent reports indicate that their Legacy and Harmony groups are the fastest selling new homes in all of Orange County. “Prices for buyers are the most affordable they have been in years and there are available incentives like the City of Anaheim’s down payment assistance for qualified buyers, to help spur those sales,” O’Brien noted.

“We at Brookfield are firm believers in not just selling houses but in establishing community,” O’Brien emphasized. He cited a recent example of a fully-catered special event in the Colony Park Development for current and future residents, along with City officials, where residents could meet their neighbors and get to know more about their community. “It was so successful that attendees stayed for hours beyond the scheduled time,” he said.

Additionally the Brookfield executives have gotten very involved in the City of Anaheim with various business groups and non-profits. “We are thankful for the way we have been welcomed and for the professionalism of city staff and elected officials,” O’Brien said, “and we want to give back.” He cited several projects underway including the planned December groundbreaking for a public park in the Colony District which will feature a historic depiction of water flow to the area.

This past year, Brookfield was honored by the Chamber as the “Green Business of the Year” for being the first Southern California homebuilder to achieve “Build It Green” through Green Point Certification. The award noted that these homes benefit their residents by providing 31% lower energy costs than other homes in Anaheim. Also in 2007 Brookfield launched a company-wide environmental initiative which included car-pooling programs, a decrease in the use of plastic and paper and an in-office recycling program.

“Brookfield has proven to be a great asset to our community,” said Todd Ament, President and CEO of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, “we feel they deserve to be honored and we look forward to their involvement in Anaheim for many years to come.”
