Brookfield Homes' Commitment to Downtown Anaheim Illuminated by Boys and Girls Club and YMCA

ANAHEIM, CA — Orange County builder Brookfield Homes is once again helping revitalize Downtown Anaheim by partnering with the city’s Redevelopment Agency to build 59,000 square feet of community-focused space on the southwest corner of Center Street and Olive Street. To improve the Downtown’s recreational offerings for families and children of all ages, Brookfield has been selected to construct new facilities for a brand-new Boys and Girls Club and YMCA, which will be adjacent to City Hall and the existing senior center.

Spanning 29,000 square feet, the all-new Boys and Girls Club will be the much-needed home for a gym, classrooms, full-service kitchen, art center, community room and office space for administration. There will also be additional office space made available to the Anaheim Police Activities League. Once complete, the Club will host a variety of programs and services that are designed to encourage the healthy development of today’s children.

The on-site YMCA will offer 30,000 square feet of activity-centered space. Members will enjoy an enriched atmosphere with health and fitness facilities, classrooms, a swimming pool, administrative offices, as well as an adjacent gym intended specifically for community usage.

Along with these vital facilities, this mixed-use infill development will further enhance the community with public improvements, including infrastructure, open space and reconfigured public parking to ensure easy access for visitors. Brookfield Homes will also construct approximately 60 to 100 homes on the southeast section of the project. This on-site residential collection will include amenities and parking to create an enjoyable and convenient setting for homeowners within walking distance to the Muzeo and other downtown attractions.

In addition to bringing the new Boys and Girls Club and YMCA to Anaheim, this local builder’s steadfast commitment to the city has been evidenced through the development of five new-home communities. Colony Park, a popular Brookfield Homes’ collection of brand-new townhomes and flats in the Anaheim Colony Historic District, marks their sixth addition to Anaheim’s thriving landscape in the last five years. Part of downtown Anaheim’s large-scale revitalization effort, Colony Park solidifies Brookfield’s longstanding partnership with the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency, which has successfully resulted in some of the city’s most respected new-home communities.

When interested homebuyers visit Colony Park, they’ll experience firsthand Brookfield’s dedication to both the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency and Mayor Curt Pringle’s long-term vision for an urban renaissance that transforms Anaheim into Orange County’s new downtown. “The close relationship we’ve formed with Mayor Curt Pringle, as well as the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency, has given us a tremendous amount of insight into what is most important to cities who are experiencing rapid growth and transformation,” said Adrian Foley, President of Brookfield Homes Southland Group.

Colony Park pays tribute to Anaheim’s rich 150-year legacy with classic architecture, residences, and amenities—all of which add up to a coveted new community that blends seamlessly into its historic surroundings. Added Mayor Curt Pringle: “Colony Park is another opportunity to celebrate Anaheim’s 150-year anniversary and continue the revitalization efforts in Anaheim’s Colony District. Our long-time partner, Brookfield Homes, has gone to great lengths to ensure that the architecture and design reflect the historic nature of our downtown.”

Loaded with the amenities that today’s homebuyers actively seek out, this unique collection is home to Compass Park, a private resort-style park and open-air pavilion designed to replicate the historic downtown Anaheim train station. Here, residents have the special opportunity to cherish an important symbol of Anaheim’s storied past in a breathtaking outdoor setting that showcases a private pool, park, fireplace, barbecues and cabana-like sitting and dining area. Colony Park also offers pedestrian-friendly walkways that connect to the city’s main thoroughfares, in addition to numerous open spaces, which further enhance Anaheim’s thriving city setting.

And as a GreenPoint Rated community, Colony Park’s homes will be energy efficient, conserve water and other important resources, improve indoor air quality and share an infill address that provides nearby access to public transportation. Homeowners will also appreciate lower utility costs that are some of the lowest across the state of California. Anaheim Public Utilities, which serves residents at Colony Park, is a not-for-profit electric and water service provider governed by the local City Council. Electric rates currently average between 25 and 40 percent lower than those in cities that neighbor Anaheim.

Homeowners at Colony Park will have the added advantages of a low tax rate, no Mello-Roos and low HOAs. More information can be found by logging on to www.livecolonypark.com. Colony Park is centrally located in the Anaheim Colony Historic District, with convenient access to the 5 freeway, as well as the 57, 22 and 91 freeways. From the 5 freeway, exit Harbor Blvd. and head north. Turn right on South Street and cross Anaheim Blvd. Turn left on Melrose Street and follow the signs to the Sales Information Centers.
