BROOKFIELD HOMES AND ANAHEIM'S REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY BREAK GROUND AT CANTADA SQUARE

November 9, 2003 - ANAHEIM, CA — In celebration of a new neighborhood coming to West Anaheim, and an infill partnership established with Anaheim’s Redevelopment Agency, Brookfield Homes Southland broke ground Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at “Cantada Square.” The neighborhood will be a symbol of Brookfield Homes’ commitment to provide infill housing in urban areas.

Cantada Square, located at 2340 West Lincoln Avenue near Gilbert Street, is slated to include a gated entrance, private park, pavilion and 82 residences with three eclectic architectural designs—Colonial, Spanish Colonial and Spanish Monterey. Residences will range from approximately 1,340 to 2,600 square feet and offer 3 to 5 bedrooms with 2.5 to 4 baths and 2-car attached garages. In addition, the City of Anaheim and Brookfield Homes Southland will afford some moderate-income families special financing on homes, and will extend a 60-day priority presales period to current Anaheim residents and those employed in the city.
Speakers that day included Anaheim City Mayor Curt Pringle; Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez; Elisa Stipkovich, executive director of the Redevelopment Agency for the City of Anaheim; and Jeffrey Prostor, president of Brookfield Homes Southland. During presentations, site plans were reviewed as well as floorplans and neighborhood amenities.

“Brookfield Homes Southland is proud to have been selected to work with the Redevelopment Agency to assist in the creation of the community and provide a special sense of place in the West Anaheim area,” noted John O’Brien, director of urban development for Brookfield Homes Southland. “We are excited to help fulfill the demand for housing in the urban areas where supply is so limited, and we anticipate that our relationship with the City of Anaheim will be a platform for future redevelopment in Southern California.”

“As established in the city’s vision for West Anaheim, the city is taking an active role to convert underutilized sites to residential neighborhoods,” said Stipkovich. “We have worked with the community for a number of years to plan the redevelopment of West Anaheim, and one of the neighborhoods that has been moving forward is a new ‘for sale’ construction neighborhood by Brookfield Homes Southland. This will be a wonderful addition to the West Anaheim area.”

Model homes are anticipated to be completed by spring 2004. The 60-day priority presales period begins January 2004. For more information on the Cantada Square neighborhood, or to be added to our buyer interest list, log on to brookfieldsouthland.com, or call 1-877-31-HOMES.
